The Mysterious Phenomenon of "Black-Eyed Kids" (Or "BEK")

Reports of encounters with strange children (All reports put them as mid-teens & younger) with coal black eyes, have been coming in from around the country since the early 90's. The stories are virtually the same. Appearing after sundown, they knock on your door and ask to be let in. To use the phone, or some other reason. 
Fortunately, most people, upon noticing the Black Eyes, turn them away and live to tell about their creepy encounter. There are some frightening stories about the unfortunate folks who let these strange kids in, and the misfortune that follows. 
 Like UFOS, with "so" many reported sightings & encounters, there surely "must" be something going on.
